Lung disease remains a significant health and economic burden to societies throughout the world and is projected to increase in prevalence. Recent medical advances have enhanced clinical care but further research is needed in the areas of inhibition of lung fibrosis, altering airway inflammation and manipulating the pulmonary vascular endothelium.
